What is Reflexology?

The human body has different organs, such as the heart and the lungs, and different systems, such as the circulatory and digestive systems. All of these keep our bodies working as effectively as possible. The nervous system, the "control centre," coordinates actions and sensory information between the brain, spinal cord, and body through nerves.

Reflexology believes that these nerve endings are mapped on the feet in zones corresponding to different areas of the body. For example, the big toe corresponds to the head and brain. When targeted pressure is applied to different points on the feet, it stimulates the nerves and triggers physiological responses.

How people react to reflexology is quite personal because people are different. It may be viewed as really effective by one person and ineffective by another. Reflexology aims to trigger physiological responses that reduce stress and pain, encourage the body's natural healing and detoxification processes, and promote well-being and balance.
